Habitat: Found across sub-Saharan Africa (from Senegal to East Africa) in Savannas, Woodlands, Grass steppes, Semideserts, Volcanic rocky outcrop (1900 m).

Feeding Habit: Omnivore (grass, seeds, shoots, gums, fruits, seedpods, insects, lizards and birds egg)

Gestation Period:  5 – 6 months with single birth

Lifespan: Average of 21 years in the wild and 24 Years in captivity.

Conservation Status: Near threatened (NT).
