Habitat:  All manner of wetlands, inland shores, and meadows. Also high woodlands of Ethiopia to 4000m. avoids heavily forested areas and most coasts.

Feeding Habit: it grazes on grasses, sedges, herbs, and grain crops.

Nesting: Lays 5 – 12 eggs and hatched after 28 – 30 days incubation period.

Lifespan: 25.5 years in captivity.

Conservation Status: Least concern. (LC)
