Size: 45cm long.

Weight: 480 – 850g.

Habitat: Open wooded savanna, riverine forests, semi – deserts, small forest patches, and trees plantations.

Feeding Habit: Spotted Eagle Owl will drop on any prey that wanders blow its daytime perching branch. It feeds early at night on small mammals and also takes many birds, as well as Snakes, Lizards, Toads, Fish, and Insects.

Nesting: Takes over a large nest of a crow, or an abandoned nest of a Vulture, Eagle,  Hammerkop, or Sociable weaver. Lay 2 eggs. Young may help prevents raise next year’s brood.

Lifespan:  20 years in captivity.

Conservation Status: Least concern
