Now also domesticated and introduced In some parts of India, Australia and Somalia. . Below are some key facts about the animal. One hump, 1.8 – 2meters at the shoulder, 400 – 600kg, can live 40 – 50 years in captivity. The  adaptation of the animal is that, it can store fat in the hump which provides energy when food is scarce, can also survive 10 days without water which makes it to lose about 30% of its body weight. The animal has a long eyelashes, bushy eyebrows, and closable nostril which protects it from dust and sand. Possess a broad leathery footpads enabling it to walk on desert sand.
